A tape recording

I returned to Bermuda in May 1991 to give evidence in a number of Supreme Court trials.  I arrived one afternoon and the next day visited Hamilton.  On Reid Street I was approached by a serving Bermudan police officer who wanted to speak with me about something 'important'.

I ushered the officer into Stefenal's (clothes shop) and asked to use their office (back right of the store).  Knowing the staff, this was permitted and I was asked if I would mind meeting with a former police officer who was prepared to supply information about the former head of the Narcotics Department, Dennis Ramsey.

The officer was Leo Simmons, who had been sentenced at Supreme Court to a year in prison for a drug offence.  He wished to discuss Mr. Ramsey's involvement in the supply of narcotics and his association with a Bermuda Barrister, the same individual named in the transcript.

I met Leo Simmons at the Stonnington Beach Hotel and taped the conversation.
